Trust Me

**Spoilers if you are not through page 307 in Allegiant**

Trust me!

It's such a simple quote. We hear it all the time, in fact just today I heard two different people say it. But if your life is in danger, or if the trust goes against everything you believe, would you be able to trust someone? Would you trust a relative, friend, boyfriend/ girlfriend with your life?

I am currently reading Allegiant and I am about halfway through the book. Throughout the series there have been many instances where the two main characters, Tris and Tobias- also in a relationship, have had to rely on trust alone. In the last book, Insurgent, Tris betrays Tobias by working with his enmy (aka. dad) to get important information that she believes could save their city. Tris has a constant struggle with herself becuase she knows that when Tobias finds out she will lose his trust. She eventually does release the information but she nearly loses Tobias.

In allegiant Tobias finds out he is genetically damaged. The genetically damaged (or GD) are treated as lesser human beings in relation to the genetically pure (or GP). Tobias and a group of a few others think this is unfair and rebel against the Bureau (government city). Tris started out in this group but ended up leaving it becuase she didn't trust the motives of the leaders. Tris tried to get Tobias to leave too, but he didn't believe her and ended up helping an attack take place and got into alot more trouble than he realized he was going to get into. "I was right. I was right, and you didn't listen. Again."(pg. 300) This is Tris talking to Tobias after the attack. She points out the fact that again she was right and Tobias didn't have enough trust in her to believe her. This untrust caused an attack to be played out, many of people hospitalized, and a major injury to one of his friends. This also causes Tris to be so horrified at him that she won't even look at him. "He's one of the last friends I have. I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at you the same way again."(pg. 301)

Trust is important; but we need to be careful about who we give it to.
