Last trimester I read Divergent and Insurgent, both by Veronica Roth. Today I am going to write a review of the second book, Insurgent. Insurgent is about a girl, Tris, who is trying to find a way out of her crumbling life. She is Divergent which means she is harder to be controlled by the bad rulers. She cannot be controlled by the serums; the serums can control you and forse you to do things that you wouldn't have done while awake. The ruler of the Erudite, Jeanine, uses these serums to take control of the city and force everyone to follow her. Jeanine trys to wpe out the entire population of divergents because she says they are a threat to society. In Insurgent, Tris escapes her faction and goes to other factions to hide from the Erudite. The people of the factions spread into three groups, people who agree with Erudite, the people who are against Jeanine, and the people that are neutral. Tris and her friends go back to Dauntless, where she lives, and try to get ready for war. Tris desides to sacrifice herself by going to Erudite to save everyone, but her boyfriend, Tobias, ended up following her and gets captured too. Tris escapes Erudite because someone who pretended to hate her ended up switching the poison with a temporary paralizing serum. She then re-awakens and runs away with the three, her Tobias and the person who helped her, Peter. When she gets back to the faction she ends up betraying Tobias to find some information that she belives will solve all the problems. The book ends with her releasing the information.
Ok, well now you know what happened, I'll give my rating of the book! Out of 1-10, I rate the book as a 9. I love the book very much and the author does an amazing job at getting you attached to the characters so you actually feel as if you are the character. I love books that are full of action, and from my summary you can tell that this book is almost nonstop action! Insurgent is full of cliff-hangers and betrayals and much more. The book is very good and I believe eveyone who likes storys with action would like the book.
I see that you are a fellow Roth fan:) Her books have gotten a lot of attention, and obviously you see the many reasons why. I read all three books within the past few months and I LOVED the trilogy. I remember where you were referencing how Peter switched the serums while Tris was in Erudite and that was HUGE and unexpected, at least for me. I definitely recommend that you keep reading: The ending of the third book is unexpected and I thought that it was a great "finale" if you will, to close the series.!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very interesting and like it could fit into the Hunger Games category a little bit. I have heard a lot of good things about this series and especially with the movie coming out, I think I might read it.
