Looking For Alaska

Hey guys! So I haven’t been blogging in a while and that is because it’s summer break!

So for my summer assignment I am reading Looking for Alaska by John Green.

The main character, Miles Halter, lived in Florida and went to Culver Creek Preparatory School in Alabama. He came to search for his “Great Perhaps” which were the last words of a poet named Francois Rabelais. On Miles’ first day of Culver Creek he met his roommate Chip, who’s nickname is the Colonel and also met Alaska. The colonel gave Miles the nickname Pudge, which is ironic because Miles is very skinny.

This year is Pudge’s first year at Culver Creek but he is in his junior year of high school. Alaska and Colonel started going to Culver Creek in their freshman year and are in their junior year with Pudge.

It’s tradition that the older students play a prank on the new students. They always come and take you during the night and strip you to your under wear and throw you in the lake, but this time Kevin and his friends duct-taped Pudge and then threw him in the water. They also said that “This is for the Colonel.”(25) Them almost drowning Pudge was a warning to the Colonel.

Alaska and the Colonel are pranksters. In their first year they “filled classroom 4 with a thin layer of marbles.”(20) And have progressed from there. I think that Pudge will get revenge on Kevin and start playing pranks with Alaska and the Colonel and will find his Great Perhaps while doing it.Hey guys!
