So this week between homework, and rowing two hours every day, and reading Fahrenheit 451, I'll admit I haven't had much time to read. In fact I only got about 30 pages farther into the book, but I’ll try to make this blog good nonetheless. So, where are we? Oh, right so far in the book Tris left the city that that they grew up in (which we now know is Chicago), she goes to the Bureau and learns that the guy in charge (David) actually gave the serum to Jeanine to control the Dauntless and destroy Abnegation. Wow, the Bureau seems really great, don’t they? Well this is exactly how Tris feels, she is angry, she hates the Bureau and it’s leaders. She wants revenge. David was a good friend of Natalie (Tris’ mom) and he just gave the serum to Jeanine which was responsible for Natalie’s death along with Tris' fathers death.
Later there was an attack on the Bureau and Tris saved David's life. David is thankful that she did so and wants Tris to become a part of the council. Tris accepts the job but for one reason... "If someone offers you an opportunity to get closer to your enemy, you always take it. I know that without having learned it from anyone." (pg. 324) This quote shows that Tris thinks of the Bureau as her enemy and she only takes the job to get closer and eventually get revenge in some way. She is using her new job as a mask to get the real information and important details.
Have you ever had an enemy that you pretended to be friends with just to get information?
Your book seems pretty interesting so far.
ReplyDeleteThis post reminds me of the saying "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer". I don't think I have ever had a so called enemy (I try to be friendly to everybody). However, if I did have an enemy and they had information I needed or wanted I probably would stay true to this common saying!
