This is what happens in Clockwork Angel. One of the characters, Tessa, moved to London to live with her brother Nick. Nick was supposed to meet Tessa at the dock when she arrived from the boat. He had a late notice appointment and sent Mrs. Black and Mrs. Dark instead. He left Tessa a note that said that "He trusted Mrs. Black and Mrs. Dark... to bring her safely to his house in London." (pg. 10)
In his trusting of the "Dark Sisters" (as he calls them), he either made a major mistake or he was forced by them to write that note. Later the book we learn that the Dark Sisters kidnapped Nick and was blackmailing Tessa into doing things by threatening to kill him. "They had told her that, the Dark Sisters, had told her that they had Nate, and if she didn't do what they said, he would die." (pg. 20)
Nate, in this case, made a major mistake and not only put himself in danger by trusting the Dark Sisters but also put Tessa in danger.
Trust is important but has the potential to be dangerous. You should be careful with who you give it to.
