Over the course of the book the Kobie changed a lot. She had never had people skills because she and her family lived in an unpopulated town by themselves. When the family moved to a more populated town she had trouble because she wasn't good at remembering names and faces. She doesn't know how to talk to other people but over the book she changes she makes new friends and changed from wanting to live isolated to being ok with having neighbors and going to the city every now and then. "Right there, at that moment, stood a person!" " After a while the stranger turned, spotted me and lifted its hand in greeting. I managed to wave back. But I was shaken. I had neighbors within waving distance!"
This article talks about how the book is so realistic. It also talks about how Kobie's life is so different than the person writing the article. It describes the book as a "heartwarming, uplifting read that adventure and animals lovers alike will enjoy getting lost in."
